Chocolate-Chocolate Sheet Cake

It’s probably been a decade since Ina Garten wrapped her Back to Basics cooking show but low and behold I have discovered it and jumped headfirst onto the bandwagon.

That’s my way— I’m always about a hundred years behind on trends. Regardless, I’m glad to be a student of hers now. I’m having such a lovely time cooking through some of her books I have been gifted over the years but had not tapped into yet.

All my boys love chocolate so I was confident this chocolate on chocolate dream would go over well. There was one exception— the six of us aren’t huge on super sugary frosting. Instead I went with ganache to top the sponge.

Let me tell you, the way it oozed over the edges of the cake even made my eyes pop a bit.

The children tucked in immediately after supper. Pouring glasses of milk to dunk or dissolve bits of sponge into before gobbling it down. Do any of your children pair their sweets with milk? By pair, I mean obliterate into mush in a cup and enjoy with a spoon.
