Mother’s Day Capsule
If you don’t already have a list of what your ideal day looks like on a memo pad somewhere, this is your reminder. Now is the time to make one!
When my husband asked how I would like to spend Mother’s Day this year I shot him a slightly adapted list of what I would love to do, eat and receive. As unromantic as one may think, it’s less disappointing to tell the people I love what I hope for or need instead of assuming they can read minds.
Pancakes and coffee on a bedtray and time to linger over some journaling filled the morning. Followed by music, dance, and homemade gifts from the children. Then roller skating in the neighborhood and turkey sandwiches at my favorite park before browsing the local bookstore. There I stumbled across, Sara Forte— color me inspired! I cannot wait to start cooking from Around the Table in the coming weeks.
Afterwards we hit happy hour oysters in our old neck of the woods. A kid-friendly place where the lead hostess has coddled half our children in their infancy and is amazed when she sees how much they’ve grown with each visit.
Then it was homeward bound for cocktails and grilled salmon with beurre blanc and butter lettuce by a smoking hot chef, I have the pleasure of parenting with.
It was a day to be treasured and filled with all sorts of sweetness.
